Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book an appointment?

Appointments and payments are online through Jane. Please see appointments section and clinic on Book an Appointment Jane has a list of Appintments with corresponding cost. If you need help, feel free to reach out to Lorena via clinic phone number.

What is the difference between an Introductory and Episodic appointment?

Introductory appointments are 15-minute, no-charge meetings required for patients seeking ongoing care. They are not medical appointments but are intended to establish a therapeutic relationship with your Nurse Practitioner. Episodic appointments are one-time visits focused on urgent or acute care needs and do not establish long-term care unless otherwise arranged.

Is Thriving Health covered by Alberta Health Care?

No. Thriving Health is a private-pay clinic. This allows for longer, more thorough appointments and improved continuity of care. While we support universal healthcare, this model allows us to offer personalized, timely, and in-depth care to patients.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

Appointments must be cancelled through AVA Connect with at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations made 12–24 hours prior will incur 50% of appointment fee. Less than 12 hours’ notice or no-shows will be charged 100% of appointment fee. Refunds will be processed according to this policy via your original payment method.

Can I book without sharing my medical concern?

No. All bookings must include a stated concern, symptom, or condition. This helps us allocate the proper time and prepare for your care. Bookings cannot be accepted with vague or withheld reasons (e.g., “private”).

Do you see children?

Yes! Thriving Health provides primary care services for children up to 18 years of age. Healthy children do not necessarily need a pediatrician and are welcome at our clinic for check-ups, assessments, and general health care.

Are prescriptions included in my visit?

Yes. If during your appointment a prescription is appropriate, it will be included in your care plan. Prescription refills for current patients can also be requested directly through your pharmacy.

How long are the appointments?

Appointment length varies depending on the number of concerns:

  • 1–2 concerns: 30 minutes
  • 3–5 concerns or new patient: 60 minutes
  • Follow-ups and lab result reviews: 15 minutes
If more time is required than originally booked, the NP will inform you and adjust the appointment accordingly.

Can I reach out with questions before my visit?

Yes. You can contact the clinic by email at thrivinghealthnpcare@gmail.com. Please note, clinical questions and personal health information should not be shared by email. We will respond to general inquiries as promptly as possible.
